William S. Kanich, MD, JD & Carrie Lowe, JD, CPPS
Bill Kanich is the Chief Medical Officer for the MagMutual Patient Safety Institute. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and practiced in Charleston, South Carolina, prior to moving to Atlanta. Bill functions as an advisor to other members of the Patient Safety team on medical matters. He also leads educational seminars for MagMutual policyholders. In addition to his work with the Patient Safety Institute he has been a member of the MagMutual South Carolina Claims Committee for 8 years.
Carrie Lowe is a Sr. Staff Attorney and is the Director of Policyholder Resources for the MagMutual Patient Safety Institute. She oversees the resources offered by the Institute and provides support for all aspects of the practice, business and regulation of medicine. Carrie has served in many capacities during her career at MagMutual, including as an attorney in the company's Legal Department and as a Litigation Specialist in the company's Claims Department, where she dealt directly with the defense of policyholders' medical negligence claims.
Prior to joining MagMutual in 2008, Carrie served as outside defense counsel where she litigated medical malpractice cases for over 6 years in her capacity as an Associate and then as a Partner in the law firm of Carlock, Copeland and Stair.
